FAQs
FAQs
Q: What Bands/Choirs are included in this 2020 Spring Concert Recording Session?
A: This offer is to record the Concert Band and the Concert Choir during a typical Band/Choir class. If you have other groups you want to feature or other groups available during this class time we can record them as well.
Q: We have more groups performing in our Spring Concert than just our two featured groups. Can we record these groups too?
A: Everything is negotiable! If we can arrange to record them all on one day, then all the better! It is $50 per additional group after the two featured groups.
Q: Can we have our concert band recorded one day and have our concert choir recorded on a different day? ...or bands on one day, choirs on another?
A: Ideally, it is preferred that we record on a single day, however, if needed, we can try to do it over two days. Lets make this work!
Q: Where will the recordings be made?
A: Typically, the recordings will be made in the band room and/or choir room during your typical band/choir class. Arrangements will need to be made for me to arrive early to set up and be ready to record at the start of your class.
Q: What is the recording setup?
A: The recording setup typically consists of duel raised stereo microphones mixed to a Zoom H6 digital recorder. Additional microphones can be used for solo performances if needed.
Q: How many songs/pieces can we have recorded?
A: Basically, we can record as many songs you can perform in the amount of time of a single band/choir class. At the beginning we will need to set the audio recording levels. You will be given the opportunity to play/sing one of three songs:
1. The School Alma Mater,
2. The School Fight Song or
3. The Star Spangled Banner.
After the recording levels are set, we will record whatever pieces you decide. If there is time after recording the Spring Concert numbers, break out your 2019 Holiday pieces, Pep Band songs or Marching Band songs!
Q: Can we do a “Re-Take”?
A: Yes, but keep in mind that will be taking away time needed to record other pieces.
Q: Why not record the concert “Live” on the day of the event?
A: Two words: Quality Control.
By recording in the band/choir rooms, we will have much better control of the sound which will mean a higher quality recording. It is also a lot less stressful!
Live event recording services are available, first come - first serve,
at an additional price.
Q: What is the end product we will be getting?
A: The end product(s) is professionally mastered (.wav) audio files of the bands/choirs, i.e.: personal performances of the members of your band/choir.
Q: Are audio CDs available?
A: A “directors copy” can be provided on an audio CD, however, the finished product is intended to be distributed digitally.
Q: Can family, friends and fans buy CDs?
A: Though the .wav files can easily be burned to CD using a variety of apps, this is not a service herein provided with this offer.
Q: What if our DropBox isn’t large enough to download the files?
A: We will work out a way to get the files to you, be it DropBoxing each piece individually or even mailing them to you via USPS on a thumb drive or SD card.
Q: The price sounds low for professional recording services. Why so cheap?
A: There are two main reasons why the price is set the way it is.
1. This is an introductory offer. The goal is to earn your trust in the quality and ease of the services. This is also why no money is due until after you have listened to the sample recording. The goal is that after making the recordings this Spring, we will develop a relationship that carries over to the 2020 Marching Band performances and Holiday Concert and the 2021 Spring concert.
The prices of the 2020-21 services have not yet been set, but will naturally be fair.
As previously mentioned, everything is negotiable!
2. It's GREEN!!! Wait, what? Yes, by providing electronic digital files of the musician's personal performances, as opposed to being burned to CD, there are no blank plastic CDs and CD cases, no paper CD inserts and labels and no ink to print them, no electricity to burn and label the CDs, no plastic bubble mailing envelopes and no post office gasoline delivering it to your door. If you like green, you'll like this!
Q: Can you video our concert and put it on DVD?
A: Video services are definitely available. However, to do that means I will want to do it correctly. Which means I will want to use multiple cameras. Which means hours of post production editing in Final Cut. Which means mastering, duping, packaging and mailing. Which means a lot of time, energy and expenses. Which means a hefty price for your boosters or school. Let the dads and grandpas do the video this time and concentrate on getting high quality audio recordings at a great price!
